We are seeing an uptick in cellphone use throughout the building. To protect the learning environment at East Middle School, cellphones are required to remain in student lockers, as outlined in the Middle School Handbook (page 44).
If families need to get a message to their student during the school day, they should contact the office before 1:00 PM, and we will ensure the message is delivered. Please note that we do not have a student phone available for students to call home during the school day, except before and after school. Thank you for your assistance on this matter. |

Hi East Middle School families!
I’m your school’s Lifeways Counselor, Anna McNabb! My goal this year is to help support and encourage families by providing monthly education and tips for building healthy relationships. Lots of little talks are more effective than one big talk. Small conversations make a big impression. Check out this month’s flyer! If you have any questions or feel your child would benefit from Lifeways services, please contact me at East Middle School, 605-394-4092. |

East Middle School PTA — February Meeting Canceled |
EMS PTA will not hold a February meeting due to not meeting the required minimum of five members in attendance. This requirement has only been met once this school year. Low participation has significantly impacted what the PTA is able to provide for our school community. This year, we were forced to cancel our largest fundraiser, BINGO, and reduce or eliminate several other supports and events, including: -Family Fun Nights -Student snacks during state testing -Teacher Appreciation Week Limited involvement has also prevented us from planning new activities for students and families.
The future of the East Middle School PTA depends on increased participation. We are seeking individuals willing to attend meetings, volunteer, or serve in leadership roles. Open board positions include President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary, with elections planned for April or May to ensure continuity into next year.
We recognize that everyone’s availability is different. Whether you can commit to leadership, attend occasional meetings, volunteer at events, or simply become a paid member, your support makes a difference. If you have questions or ideas, please contact us:
