No School – January 19 & 20

There will be no school on Monday and Tuesday, January 19–20, in observance of MLK Day and a Professional Development Day. Classes will resume on Wednesday.

Cell Phone Expectations

We are seeing an uptick in cellphone use throughout the building. To protect the learning environment at East Middle School, cellphones are required to remain in student lockers, as outlined in the Middle School Handbook (page 44).

If families need to get a message to their student during the school day, they should contact the office before 1:00 PM, and we will ensure the message is delivered. Please note that we do not have a student phone available for students to call home during the school day, except before and after school.

Thank you for your assistance on this matter.

Health Office

Please take everyday preventive measures to stop the spread of germs.

*Washing your hands is easy, and it’s one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of germs. Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.

*Avoid close contact with sick people.

*While sick, limit contact with others as much as possible to keep from  infecting them.

*If you are sick with flu-like illness, CDC recommends that you stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone except to get medical care or for other necessities. (Your fever should be gone for 24 hours without the use of a fever-reducing medicine.)

*Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. After using a tissue, throw it in the trash and wash your hands.

*Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Germs spread this way.

*Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with germs like flu.
